Stop being a “what if…” person and see how far it gets you!

by Dave Alcock on January 25, 2012

I haven’t really thought about this before but now after looking around and reading a few posts and forums it become quite obvious that I should really be heading in a direction even if it doesn’t seem or might not even be the right one.

I was getting all worried about heading in a particular direction, especially if it was the wrong direction.Just Imagine all the wasted time I would have… would it be wasted though?

I’ve come to the realisation that I actually have to make some sort of move. No one has ever done anything outstanding by sitting on the wall and watching what’s going on.

It is my time to move, with action at least I can respond but with inaction how will I know how to respond. It would be impossible to know.

After figuring this out I’ve realised how much I have not done, just in case it was the wrong thing. But when I’ve done the wrong thing firstly I never for get it and secondly I won’t be doing it again! That is for sure.

I remember reading something that was completely the opposite from my mind set. It was in the “4 Hour Work Week” by Tim Ferriss (if you’ve never read it I suggest getting you hands on it), now he said it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission. The more I think about it the more right I think he is.

It has been shown that the people that take the risks are the people that become more successful in whatever they do. So my advice right now is to stop think and start doing. I hate the “what if…” syndrome, what if I constantly think and never do… are you one of those people?

So make some waves, cause a stir you never know what might come of it. Maybe nothing, it might even be something negative, but just imagine how much you would learn!

Take some action see what results you get.

And you know what why not share them with others, leave me a post of what you have been doing and I’ll keep you updated on where my action has lead me too.

Catch you soon

Dave

Hey Dave,

Just wanted to congratulate you for writing this article here and for sharing your thoughts on my blog as well.

That’s TWO actions on one day, so the key here is to keep upping that number and do it DAILY.

Don’t ever stop man and good things will just happen to you, I can give you my word on it.

Take care and speak soon!

Sergio

PS. You really should get an account at gravatar.com so you can put an image to your comments on other sites and brand yourself a lot more!

Hey Sergio,

Thanks very much. Only 2 actions I think I must have done more behind the scenes, well I at least hope that I did.

I’ll have a look at getting my gravatar sorted out and get my ugly mug on it.

Thanks you your support

Dave

Hi Dave

Congratulations on getting gravator done, it certainly picked you up over at my site. This is a great post and personally I find the best way to learn is by making mistakes.

Just remember to try and not make the same mistake twice.

Keep up the blogging

Andrew

Thanks Andrew,

I’ve always been told I had a face that stood out. I not sure if that was a good think though.

Third times a charm…

Dave
